A little story from our dean, Terry Daugherty and his chance meeting with alumni Patrick and Kathy Boice...
Early this fall I met Patrick and Kathy Boice who were randomly walking within Federal Hall.  I approached them to see if I could help and they informed me that they were alumni visiting from Florida.  Kathy and Patrick both graduated from the Scott College of Business in 1974.  They met and fell in love here at ISU and eventually moved away from Indiana raising their family.  Kathy is a long-time educator serving as a teacher and principal for many years.  Patrick worked in account services and advertising for AT&T.
I gave them a tour of the building and spoke with them about the college, their careers, and their time here at ISU.  They truly love the university and have very fond memories together here.  I was able to then reach out to the foundation and with Jeremiah’s help, as well as Hilary Duncan, they received a complete “golf cart” tour of campus.  I believe they had a wonderful time and we were able to reinforce their love for the university.
Fast forward now until yesterday (December 7, 2021), I was pleasantly surprised to receive a delivery of Insomnia Cookies wishing us happy holidays from them.  Knowing the type of people they are (i.e., amazing loving Sycamores), I took the cookies and shared them with our students, staff and faculty here in the building during finals week.  Mind you, this is a time of stress and anxiety so I felt that sharing a box of goodness from the Boice’s would bring happiness to many.  During this process I was able to share with everyone Patrick and Kathy’s story and their love for ISU.
